Palpatine Tree
I have no idea what caused this tree to turn to the dark side. I only know that I felt compelled to hit the brakes and grab this shot before it noticed me. I was struck by the way it soared past the pleasant green, pink and yellow layers of the dawn and stretched, reaching upwards greedily to embrace the dark roiling miasma. The tree itself even gets darker, blacker the closer it gets to the evil disturbance above.
Perhaps beloved children played on a tire swing hanging from the strong right branch before the tragedy occurred. It could be that an innocent person was hung from that branch. Maybe the local kids played in its branches before they were taken by the clown in the sewer or were absorbed by the cornfield. We'll never know for sure.
